Why Work With Us

This is the simple philosophy by which operate. We provide coverage, protection, and advice long term to clients rather than sell insurance to customers. 

There is a big difference between selling insurance policies to a customer versus providing coverage, advice, and protection long term to a client.

Furthermore, there is a big difference between client and customer.

A lot of the captive insurance agencies have sales quotas. For example, they may have to bring in a certain amount of auto insurance policies per month. If they don’t, their sales manager is on top of them about bringing in more policies.

That is to say, they might write a policy where they remove important coverage in order to bring the price to rock bottom because they’re working with the customer on price. 

We don’t sell insurance.

We aren’t here to sell insurance policies to customers. Our job is to provide to coverage, protection, and advice long term to clients. 

Above all, it’s a really simple process of understanding what the client needs and their situation.  To that end, we leverage the 300+ years of insurance industry experience we have collectively.  As a result, we utilize the great relationships  with these insurance companies which have taken decades to build. In addition, we explore the competitive market and allow these companies to compete for our clients’ business. At the same time, we provide advice, consultation on coverage, and ways that they can protect their family, their business, or their assets.

No sales quotas.

In addition, we do not operate with sales quotas. We are also not beholden to a specific company to provide policies to our clients. We don’t have sales quotas. 

Companies do not give us kickbacks. For instance, if I write several policies with Liberty Mutual, they don’t give me a commission or incentive to use them.

If it’s right for the client, then it’s right for the client.

We don’t get kickbacks from any of these companies.

To summarize, it comes down to this simple philosophy by which operate: To provide coverage, protection, and advice long term to clients rather than sell insurance to customers.

Joining his father, Duncan, in the insurance industry at Shaw, Moses, Mendenhall & Associates, Mike specializes in the following insurance disciplines: HOA / Condominium, Apartments, Executive Liability, (D&O, EPLI, Fiduciary Liability), Key Man, Buy / Sell, Aerospace / Aviation, and Commercial Property / Liability Insurance.  Mike is a member of the Community Associations Institute, IBA-BGP (Board Member), sits on the University of Southern California’s Risk Management/Insurance Advisory Council, and is a member of the IIABCAL lead up committee.

Duncan brings over 40 years experience in the insurance industry and is considered an expert in Aerospace / Space / Aviation risk management and insurance.  His specialties also include business and personal insurance programs including risk management analysis and assessment. Specialty industry market segment experience includes aerospace and commercial space, manufacturers, non-profits, professional firms, high technology, contractors, financial institutions, and municipalities.
